A woman who claimed to be “Princess Diana’s secret daughter” and was arrested after brutally murdering her landlord and stabbing his cat was convicted this week.
Habiba Naveed, 35, told police she was “Jesus” and had been “sent to eliminate evil from the world.” She will remain in a UK psychiatric facility for an “indefinite period.”
The victim was Christopher Brown, 72, a lawyer who shared Habiba’s house and whom she considered a friend in London, England. According to prosecutors, she suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and was experiencing a psychotic episode at the time of the crime, according to information published on the Metropolitan Police website.
The crime took place in August of last year. Habiba told police she believed Brown had killed her own mother and that he was “evil personified.” She also said she heard a voice three times telling her to kill him.
She then struck him with a pan and strangled the landlord. Then, believing the “evil spirit” had entered the victim’s pet cat, Snow, she took a knife and slit the animal’s neck.
Christopher’s body was found in the living room, covered by a bathrobe. The autopsy confirmed that he died of head trauma caused by violent beatings.
After the crime, Habiba sent a message to her brother saying she was Jesus and that she had “conquered the devil the night before.” To the police, she repeated:
“The devil attacked me and I won.”
She also claimed to have ties to the British royal family, believing herself to be the daughter of Princess Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed, the couple who died in a tragic accident in Paris, France, in 1997.

The prosecutor in charge of the case explained that Habiba’s mental state had deteriorated in the days leading up to the crime, and that she acted completely out of touch with reality. The judge stated that the defendant frequently used cannabis, which worsened her psychosis.
Emotional colleagues from the office where Christopher worked paid tribute during the trial.
“He was much more than a 72-year-old man killed by his roommate; he was a boss, a partner, a kind man,” said one of the employees through tears.
A cousin of the lawyer also read a statement, saying that Christopher was a “kind and caring man who always made himself available to his family and clients.”
